Just as Apple unveiled its new iPhone 4 earlier this week, Samsung Electronics said it is launching the Galaxy S – its latest attempt to gain share in the profitable smart phone segment.

The Galaxy S, which runs on Google's Android operating system in South Korea, is part of Samsung's overall global push into the high-end handset segment.
